Eligibility for membership:
Any person shall be eligible for membership in the American Legion who was a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard of the United States and was assigned to the active duty at some time during the following periods:
- April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918
- December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946
- June 25,1950 to January 31, 1955
- December 22, 1961 to May 7, 1975
- August 2, 1990 to the date to end hostilities
